  • Although I have a FB account I'm not a big fan and rarely use it. I haven't checked it for over a month *LOL* I keep it primarily to view pictures of family and friends and to keep updated on "special events". My family and friends know to either call me or send me an email to tell me to check FB if they posted something there like a party or special announcement. I'll send you my email address via private message.
Just a suggestion-what don't you try making meals for your husband the way he likes them and have your daughter cook for her husband and their child? It's doable and would take some of the burden off of your shoulders. I lived with my mom until I was married and before I moved one of my brothers came there to live along with his wife and small child. His wife made meals for them and cleaned up afterwards. And my mom, my older sister and I had our meals together. It worked out good. Sometimes we all planned meals together but not too often. Since my brother was not working at the time my mom was buying all the food so it was a financial burden but my sister and I worked and paid mom "rent" which helped pay the bills.
Since bouillon is dry salt is the first ingredient. The pre-made broths contain water so salt is further down the list of ingredients. Economically speaking you're further ahead buying bouillion and adding the water yourself. All of then have a lot of grams of sodium though. The only way around that is to buy low sodium or make your own :( When I make my own it doesn't taste very good without adding salt but at least I can control the amount :)
Try Better Than Bouillon in a small glass jar (6 or 8 ounces?). Most bouillons first ingredient is salt but this brand's first ingredient is beef, chicken, turkey, etc. it's excellent. I use it in cooking, gravies, etc. It's a bit pricey compared to dry bouillon but well worth it. They also sell an organic grade that is even more expensive but I just buy the regular one. You can find it in the soup aisle in the grocery store. You'll be glad to get all your "supplies" for the first month since you will be very tired especially the first 2 months. Don't try to fight it, get all the sleep and rest you can when you get back home. It will help you heal better and faster. Take naps every day and it will help a little. You won't even want to drink broth or anything else for the first week but you have to follow the meal plan anyway. I'm sure you'll do fine. Feel free to send me private messages if you don't want to post stuff.
Your surgeon won't schedule the surgery so early that you won't be able to do the required pre-surgery diet. I was given a surgery date 3 weeks after my visit but I had to delay it another month because one of my nieces was scheduled to have knee replacement surgery during that timeframe. I didn't want the family to have to go back and forth between the 2 of us at the same time. Anyway, the time passed quickly enough and the extra month gave me the opportunity to lose a few more pounds. My high weight was 372 last winter but I was able to get it down to 356 before surgery. I just cut down on my carbs plus I lost 5 pounds during the 1 week liquid diet I was required to follow. It's important to follow the pre-op diet otherwise the surgery will probably have to be postponed.
