First week post-op

Hi, this is my first online support group. I have had a rough week...my surgery was last Monday. I was back in the ER on Friday because of dehydration, nauseous and vomitting. They ran all kinds of tests which came back normal. So, now I am making sure I get my fluids in daily. Now I am having trouble eating certain things. I can't do broth or my Premier Protein shakes. I am trying other protein powders, we will see. Has anyone have the food turnoff this soon? How did you handle it?

I'll be watching your progress. Has it gotten any better? Did you have a gastric bypass? Mine will be on June 28. I'm also Debbie, but that name wasn't available LOL

Hi - I'm Lori. I just had my sleeve surgery on June 2nd and struggling to get my protein shakes and liquid in daily. I am weak and hoping that as the weeks progress that this gets a little easier to consume the nutrition that I need. I am generally down right now and wishing I hadn't done it but I'm sure that has a lot to do with just having the surgery and being alone the last couple of days recovering before going back to work. Hoping that will be a welcome distraction. Trying to hang in there. So sorry to hear you ended up back in the ER.

Have you tried the isopure it a juice and not a shake has 40 grams of protein and no carbs or sugar. You can't taste the protein it wonderful. I go next Tuesday and am ready this week of just liquid is killing me. Good luck hope you find something you can drink.

Hi Debbie, Yes it has gotten a lot better. I had gastric bypass. My recommendation is to drink everything they give you in the hospital. How long did they tell you you would be in the hospital?

Sorry to hear that you've had so many problems. My dietician had me use dried milk you can add to most anything that's creamy. I had my two week post ob today and I'm proud to say I've lost 17 lbs in 16 days now I'm on to stage two purried food any suggestions what to try I've tried scrambled egg and refried beans with a little cheese so far. I hope you feel better soon
