diarrhea and low abdomen cramps

I am six weeks out from RNY gastric bypass surgery. I haven't had any problems until three weeks ago. At that time I started occasional diarrhea, increasing steadily to today. About once an hour with little or no warning. The cramps are in my low abdomen or pelvic area - front - and at time severe enough to double me over or if standing nearly passing out. I tried to talk to my surgeon but he was busy trying to leave town. Too busy to answer ANY questions. I need relief and HELP please.

Thank you so much! Ill definitely try that out.
How is your journey going? I see you just had your surgery... I had mine on the 14th.... Finally getting my walking back up to where it needs to be.......... Fighting energy levels somedays im sure that will get better when I can eat again...... How your hunger?

Its been a pretty good journey so far. My pain levels were kind of high for a couple of days but by 8 days post op i didnt need my pain meds anymore. I havent really felt hungry at all, just had to fight a lot of head hunger along the way. And of course the whole protein thing. How are you feeling so far?

Hello, My pain has mellowed enough to not need the meds I just relax a little and all is good. I have no real hunger to speak of at this time. am tired of the liquid diet tho... lol.. Head hunger i can understand that. I get that now, hoping it because of the liquid diet for so long... Can only make liquids taste so good.... Looking forward to that first egg.... But on a good note this diet has helped me lose a bunch of weight so far...

Doc Hale u
Also, if anyone has tried the unflavored protein powder and found one that really is flavorless please let me know!
Doc Hale unflavored protein is pretty good. But be sure to not mix it with anything too hot or you get some lumpy bits. Have you tried sipping the premier off and on ? Lol, for me at first it was one zip of premier, two sips of water , took me all day sipping like that to get the protein all in. Good luck !

Hi Terry, I have been experiencing diarrhea since my second day post op and most days since. I have figured out for myself it is worse with certain foods, or if I eat too much at one time, or if I have too much sugar at one time. I don't know if this would be the reason you had experienced the diarrhea. Sorry that your Dr. was too busy to answer your question. Does the office have a medical assistant who could help answer your question?

Sounds a lot like dumping syndrome. May be you can find the answers you need online... I am only a little over a week post op. but food that are high in fat and sugar are the normal causes... I have talked with someone that cant eat ice cream with out dumping but has no issue. It could just be something not agreeing with you. Also told try laying down after eating to restrict you moving the food around... Good luck let us know if you have luck....

Guys i need some advice!

Im trying my hardest to get in protein but can never get in enough.
Im a super picky eater to begin with, and i have only found one protein drink i liked- premier pritein chocolate shakes. But i can only drink about half of one before i feel sick. Ive tried eating super chopped up chicken, but get full after 1.5 oz. Anyone have any advice for how im gonna get in my protein before my hair starts falling out!?
That's what I'm nervous about too. Have you lost any of your hair? Are you able to get in all the protein? I don't want the hair loss and I'm dreading the loose skin, Hopefully it won't happen, I can only wish. Good luck to you!
