A Little Spooked

Pre-op today and a stay in the hospital overnight, I'm a little spooked about the surgery and feel a bit anxious. Although, reading through things here I'm thinking this is pretty normal. Anyhow, after begging the VA for about 7 years they finally gave in! I'm cautiously optimistic.

I'm glad to hear that you are finally able to take this big step in your life Gunther! I hope you've had some time to go through our forum and see that it is completely normal to have pre-surgery jitters. Try to stay positive and focus on how great you are going to feel after the weight falls off. We are all rooting for you!! Please keep us updated on your progress:)

Gunther, I'm still waiting on insurance to approve my surgery but it's getting closer and I'm excited! Seems to me the pre-op diet has got to be the worst. Try to relax, and get some sleep tonight. Everything will be just fine. Your taking a big step towards a new healthy YOU...awesome! God Bless you and lots of success and smiles!!

Quick update! I'm 2 weeks post op and doing well. I'm on the phase 2 diet and have dropped 33 pounds so far!
Awesome!! That's so encouraging!! I'm so happy for you, I hope you continue losing at a good pace. I thought I'd be on pre-op diet this week but I'm tied up in an insurance nightmare and hope things get straightened out next week so I can get my surgery date!

I'm sorry to hear about your difficulty with the insurance company Bonnie Jo! Insurance companies can be such a pain!! :( Please keep us all updated on how everything goes and when you get your surgery date set. We're all rooting for you!! :)

I'm glad you finally got approval from the VA. I can't believe you had to wait so long. I've been waiting about that same amount of time to find insurance that would cover it. I'm sorry you have to stay in the hospital overnight for your pre op stuff. That really sucks. You are not alone in having the jitters. I'm having them big time. Will the surgery go ok? Can I survive on such a limited diet? The list goes on and on. I just can't wait for my surgery date.

Congrats on the weight loss. How awesome. I start my protein shake diet, 2 weeks before surgery, on the 3rd. Interested to see what that does to my body. Keep on losing my friend.
