I am 12 days post op and have not seen any real progress. I went 7 days post op visit and had lost 8 lbs but have not lost anything since. I am consuming liquids and yogurt. I am being mindful of calorie consumption etc. I started back at jazzercise yesterday. Will the pounds come off eventually or will this be another weight loss defeat?? I am so sad thinking about this!!

WELCOME to the Forum!!!

Most people GAIN weight after surgery. I gained 20 lb. due to water weight because they load you up with fluids during and after sugery. I was shocked because no one warned me ahead of time. It takes several weeks to get rid of that extra fluid. Your weight should drop significantly within the next couple of weeks.

Cheyenne

Take a look at my weight chart from November 2013 thru April 2014. I probably should put a new chart up in my gallery.

The point I will make here is the weight does its own thing by its own schedule as time moves forward. You will have plateaus that can last up to a week, you will have ups then downs and the plateaus and then, etc., etc.,

It will NOT be a smooth slide down. What Cheyenne says above is precisely right for most of us.

She gained a bunch of weight since her hospital stay included significant hydration to prevent dehydration in the early post op weeks.

I gained about 5 pounds post op.

So relax!

Enjoy the ride. It will come down over time as long as you stick to the program.

ENOUGH OF THIS DISCOURAGED ALREADY KIND OF THINKING!!!!

:)

This post was very helpful for me. I 10days in and while i have lost some. I checked today and it looks like i gained 2 lbs. I know that I'm eating exactly as directed. Knowing that the weight fluctuates I am going to move the sale to the garage for a while. I really don't want to be discouraged.

Thanks ya'll for posting this. I have my surgery on 10/18 and no one has mentioned a possible weight gain. That can be scary as you think you are doing something wrong.

That's for sure! I about had a heart attack when I saw my weight gain. It all melted away plus a good deal more within a few weeks.
