Hi All!!

I am new here. I originally had a lap band procedure in 2008. I lost 130 lbs, but gained it all back. I also had complications... my esophagus got infected and stretched out after going months with my band too tight. My Esophagus basically turned into a 2nd stomach (Yuck!). Anyways, I had the lap band removed and got the sleeve on April 29th. I lost 20 lbs right away, but haven't lost anything in the last 4-5 weeks. I'm worried! I was told by my doctor before surgery that I would have a decrease in appetite and would have to remind myself to eat, but, the opposite has happened... I am hungry all the time!! Has anybody else had this happen to them? I'd love to hear your stories :)

I lost 20 lbs in the first 10 days and then nothing since but its only been a little over two weeks. I have read that after you lose some your body has to catch up. (im sure that's not the scientific explanation but... Also I have read that if you aren't losing maybe you are not getting enough protein. I know I have to watch out for my triggers like wanting to eat while im watching tv and things like that. If I start thinking about food when I know its just habit I look in the mirror and remind myself that I don't need it.

Hi, I am new here also. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago. Initially I had a reduced appetite, but now that is increasing. I found that if I waited too long between meals, or I didn't have enough protein then I would be extremely hungry. I am trying to now eat something every 3-4 hours, mostly something high in protein. I am also using the Bariwise protein shakes (those don't seem to have the chemical after taste). This has helped me to not feel hungry now.

Hi my name is Theresa I'm new here also, I had my sleeve surgery on November 10, 2016, so far I've lost 44 lbs, at first I didn't have any hunger feelings, I got to eat my first solid food on Thanksgiving day, I ate about 3 or 4 bites of Turkey and 3 bites of greens, I was so full my stomach hurt. Later after that food went down, I took 2 tiny bites of my husband's pumpkin pie, that was my first solid meal on the first day of my 3rd week post-op, now I'm almost 4 months post-op and I do get hungry when I wait to long to eat. Drinking water in between meals helps with feeling so hungry, but you get tired of drinking just water, they said we could use crystal light in the water, but I keep forgetting to buy some LOL, well good luck to ALL, God bless.

The weight will come off, it just takes time and work, don't give up, and I sometimes get tired of water so I switch to caffeine free tea and that helps, and sometimes when I do get hungry in the evening after supper I have a cup of hot tea, it works for me

Yes that does help, sometimes I will eat a sugar free popcicle in the evening, now I'm having problems with my hair falling out every time I brush it out I get at least 2 handfuls of hair, the other day I washed my hair n when I brushed it out, I got 3 handfuls of hair, I told my husband I'm going Bald LOL, but seriously my friend tell me I need more protein. Take care, God bless all.

I am taking the Bariatric complete vitamins that my Dr's office sells, they have everything you need except the calcium, which I buy separately from my pharmacy, but last week I saw the name brand of soft chews at Walmart cheaper than my CVS PHARMACY BRAND, and they come in chocolate or caramel flavors. I also take a stool softener, because I've been having problems with that too, I only have a bowel movement every other day or every 2 days and it's always hard. Any suggestions on that? Thanks God bless ALL.

Drink some hot decafe tea for your potty problem, it helps, I had the same problem and it helped, I started drinking it when I got tired of water, who knew it would help and when I talked to the nutrition about drinking tea instead of water, she asked if it helped with my constipation, so even they know it works, I had at least 2 cups a day and it counted towards my water because it was decaf

Thanks alot for the info about the constipation problem, I need more protein, cause my hair is getting thinner in the front, they say this is only temporary, that it only lasts about a year. So I'll just get some shampoo with protein and keep taking my biotin for my hair, skin and nails. God bless ALL.
