Good evening everyone. I'm new here. I'm at the end of my rope. On 6/13/17 I had gastric bypass. It's been nearly 6 weeks, and I've only lost 40 pounds. I seem to have come to a stand still, and I am confused as to why. I am pretty much still on a protein liquid diet. If I do eat, I can only eat two bites and I am full. I'm never hungry. I am getting 60-90+ grams of protein in every day. I sip water all day. A couple girls who had surgery within a few days from me have told me they've lost 50-70 pounds. I walk and I've started exercising. Why am I not having the same success as they ladies who have had surgery after me? What am I doing wrong? Please, any help would be appreciated .

You should be proud of your weight loss, don't compare your self to others, we all lose differently, no one is the same, the fact that you are losing slowly is a good thing, it probably means it will stay off, just keep doing what you are doing, listen to your nutritionist, we all get that feeling you have right now. It is normal, my weight loss comes and then I stall then it happens again, you are doing great, keep it up

Like Tracy said, don't compare yourself to others. If I compared myself to you, I'd be depressed. I'm 7 1/2 months out and down 109#. I'm extremely happy with where I am. Also, is their weight loss all post op? A lot of people lose weight pre op and include that in their total. Myself included. You may be comparing apples to oranges. It sounds like you are getting more than enough protein. Are you taking in any carbs? In discussing with my surgeon's office, I discovered I was eating too many carbs by eating fruit. What I thought was healthy. Take a look at your entire diet, not just the protein.

No, I'm not eating any carbs. I'm literally pretty much just on protein drinks.

Congratulations!! Your doing everything right, it will come off. I had my surgery 5-2-17. And I would stay at same weight for two weeks then lose then stay the same for a while. I lost 22 lbs just before the surgery and 37 lbs sense the surgery. I only have 43 to 33 more lbs to lose. So it also depends on how much weight you need to lose. But don't give up.

From what I've been told by the professionals is that when you don't eat you store. Since all you are on is shakes maybe the body doesn't want to let go just yet. When you finish healing and start the next phase I believe things will be looking up. Stay strong and focused. Easier said but you got this, so congratulations!

I haven't had the surgery yet, but I've heard of this happening and people swear it passes. Please don't lose hope. Forty pounds in 6 weeks is amazing! You're body is just being stubborn. You got this!

Hi. In the beginning I experienced the same thing. But what would happen to me was the weight was shifting. During those times i would notice that stomach area would be getting smaller but thighs bigger and than the weight would drop off. This would happen every few months or so. Eventually i lost more and more. Just give it some time.

Even if it's the smallest accomplishment it should be celebrated! Don't look at everyone else. Celebrate the small success. It's a life style change and every little baby step you take and every single pound you lose is worth celebrating!Don't overwhelm yourself by how much someone else loss or how much you think you should loose... take your time
