Hi. I just found this forum. I scheduled my surgery this morning. Gastric sleeve on August 10th. I am scared but more excited. I made the decision to do WLS last year. I lost my mom in November and I realized that she didn't take care of herself the last 5-10 years of her life. If she had, she may have been able to recover from the pneumonia. I want to be around a long time and see my child grow up and dance at his wedding (he is only 7!). So, here I go. Does anyone have Hashimoto's disease (autoimmune disease of thyroid)? That has been my major issue--my body is attacking my thyroid (I literally have holes in the gland) so my metabolism is shot. I have it in my mind it may take me longer to lose weight but I am going to do this!!
