I'm eating right, exercising when I can. But can't do what I want because of covid. I am living with and working with people at higher risk of death from COVID i can't be out and about. So, I spend my free days off at home. Which brings more stress. There's a steady increase of the number of people with covid in Los Angeles. I have stayed at 260lbs for almost 3 weeks. I have dropped another jean size. I started weight loss at 379lbs. Was 324lbs at surgery on new years eve. Hope I'm doing what I am supposed to be doing. Feeling sad when I don't see the pounds being lost. any suggestions

Hi I do have not lost any weight in 3 weeks. I am only 6 weeks posy op of a gastric bypass. I am very discouraged. I lost 8lbs a week right after surgery of a total of 30 lbs. Does anyone know what to do to get it going again? Doctor told me its normal but its really starting to depressed me.

Evaluate everything you are doing. Log foods and water. If you drink artificially sweetened drinks cut back to straight water. What kind of exercise are you doing? Slowly increase your exercise. Talk to a bariatric dietician and psychologist if available. Plateaus are normal, as weight loss in never linear, but three weeks is a pretty long plateau, but not unheard of.

Your body will start to lose again, but definitely track food, water and exercise to make sure those are all in line. If they are, keep plugging along. Your body is still experiencing positive changes even if the scale doesn’t change. Don’t give up!!!!

My plateau was six weeks post rny. It lasted four weeks. I’ve been losing ever since and down 80 lbs in 5 months. Keep following your team’s instructions. Drink your fluids, weigh your foods, mix up your exercise routine and make sure you are getting enough sleep. As WazzuCoug said not all positive changes are reflected on the scale. You’ve got this!!!

My surgeon has told me from the start to not focus on the number! He has said to pay attention to my body and I'll notice the changes. I am hitting my 11 month surgivarsy, on the 17th, and am losing around 2 lbs a week at this point. Which I am okay with. At my last check up, my surgeon was quite pleased with my weight loss and told me at this point my body will find the weight it is comfortable with. I have lost 132 lbs. Along this journey, I've had many plateaus, during those times I would try to focus on my body & not the scale. Like others have said, you'll notice clothes fit differently or you'll realize your face looks thinner. Remember to journal and get your protein! Not focusing on the number is difficult, and even at this point every time I step on the scale (Monday's only at work, no scale at home!) I am afraid the number has increased! I know that it's in my mind but the fear is real!! Good luck on your journey and congratulations for all the wins you've had so far!!

thank you for sharing i trying to stay positive. I guess cause i lost all that weight at first i would continue to do so. I go back to doctor on the 10th i was hoping i would of lost some more weight by then. have a good nite
Also remember that your body is going through a really big change! It has to take some time occasionally to "catch up". :) you'll continue to lose and then the next plateau will happen! Is this the first you've had? The first one is the hardest. I think mine was like 3-4 weeks, and I felt stuck. Switch 1 thing from your routine and it may help to break the plateau.

Yes this is my first one. Yeah i feel stuck also seems like i cant do anything to change it. I just hoping when i go back to doctor on the 10th that he will tell me it is normal. I have changed my exercise routine to see if that would help nothing so far. Will adding more protein and fiber help? i was just worried that it happen so soon only 6 weeks out. Thank for letting me know your story it gives me some hope that this to shall pass. When was your surgery?

I had my surgery on Sept 17 2019. My surgeon said 60-70 grams of protein a day and 64 oz of water daily, once I was able to increase my intake. I struggle on the water intake still to this day. I wasn't a huge drink person before surgery though. I probably get 45-50 oz a day. This will pass... believe me! When you finally lose the next pound, it will be the best feeling. Don't get discouraged! Covid is really changing a lot of our lives and making physical activity difficult! You got this!!

The plateaus do feel like the drag on forever, but when you look at trends over time as you just stay on plan, you will see you are going in the right direction. And the comment about inches and other ways that your body shows it is reacting to the changes are all true!

I was losing about 1 or 2 pounds a week until 2 weeks ago then my weight started to remain the same and not losing for about 3 weeks but I’m not worried about it . I’ve also since I’m at the point to try new foods and been eating a little more than I should and snacking but this week I’m back to normal eating if you call it that

I'm 8 months out, and I hit my "goal" so I am not trying to lose much more weight. That being said, plateaus lasted about 2 weeks, and then I picked up steam for another 4-6 weeks. It's all about your body adjusting to the new reality. The new stomach wiring (sleeve, bypass, lapband) and a significant drop in the food intake.
