yes, the ABG does hurt I'm afraid. It is a blood test from the artery instead of the vein, as most blood tests use.

    Nine Days Post-op!

109/71 is beautiful! I havent been on any pain meds for a week now so I am watching for dizziness and/or lightheaded symptoms. I do have a mild heart defect, so my BP med also helps with my heart. I need to take my pulse a few times a day, and if it drops below 50bpm, I am to call the doc for...

    Nine Days Post-op!

 I had my surgery Fri, May 4th, as an open procedure, instead of a lap. I also had an epidural placed just before surgery for pain control that stayed in until they removed it on that Mon. I would highly recommend that to anyone! I also had a PCA with fentanyl that I could use when needed...

Way off track its almost 4 years since surgery

Go back to the beginning...go back to eating like you did when you first had surgery for a couple weeks. This is a lifetime change for all of us, not just a diet we try for awhile and then go back to the way we ate before. Remember what you have gone through to get where you wanted to at 160#...

Husband eating in front of me

I personally would hit him over the head with a very large fry pan! Really though, these are things we will have to deal with for the rest of our lives. The more he knows it bothers you, the more he may do it. Leave the room, leave the house, make yourself something you can eat and eat with him...

    Is it May 4th yet?!

My surgeon did not put me on a liquid diet before my surgery. I had made some homemade Bean n Ham soup that I pureed and froze in small containers. I hope to get time to do the same with some mashed potatoes. :) Now for the protein shots I found that Amazon was the cheapest...here is what they...

 My surgery is coming up this Friday May 4th and I can't wait! I was so nervous before, even considered not doing it at one point, and now its only a few days away! Purchasing my protein products, shopping for a new blender/chopper (by Ninja), cream soups, frozen fruit to mix my unflavored...

One year anniversary from having Gastric Bypass Surgery

Hey Bernie, A nurse I work with, and had Gastric Bypass, recommended a powered protein to me. You can buy it at Sam's Club thru online purchase only w/free shipping. I got some and it tastes awesome. Not gritty or clumpy. I mix it in my blender with ice and water. Here is the link for...

One year anniversary from having Gastric Bypass Surgery

We are all addicts to food in one way or another. Stay on track! Its like an alcoholic or drug addict who starts using again. If you dont stay on track, you will be right back where you started, with no control.

    Is it ever enough....

Do not worry about what others think, they have not been in your shoes. That you are questioning everything you eat means you have your head in the right place. We are survivors of our old selves, and we need tweeking at times. Don't be afraid to talk to a nutritionist or psychologist for some...
