Still VERY swollen after SECOND (emergency) surgery - thoughts?

I ended up in the ER...again! It has not been an easy recovery, I can say that. They were worried about a blood clot, but all is well. I'm still swollen, but home and happy to be here!! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, everyone!

Still VERY swollen after SECOND (emergency) surgery - thoughts?

Hi all, some of you know I had my original gastric bypass 12/4, never felt "right," and was back in for emergency surgery this past Saturday. The first surgery, I packed on 17 lbs. of gas/fluids in the hospital, but lost it all in about 8-9 days. This second surgery, I put 16 lbs. back on, but...

    In ER with Intestinal Blockage

Sandie, my doctor said I could go onto eggs, shakes, etc., but like you I'm REALLY struggling with nausea! I don't want ANYTHING. The best I've done is Popsicles and fat free pudding. I'm not getting enough protein, but I also can't afford to vomit with the now TWO surgeries. With the first...

    In ER with Intestinal Blockage

Hello Everyone, it's ME, not my sister this time. Thank you all for advice and caring thoughts. That was seriously painful and scary, but I hope all is well and I'm ready to begin again. I had had a decent amount of pain, but Friday was literally doubled over and crying. Went to the ER and ended...

    In ER with Intestinal Blockage

Hi everyone, sister here still. She heard she may get to come home tomorrow! YAY!! She wants to be home. Doing well, she is walking the halls. She is very sore of course, but ready to heal and put this behind her. Onto the good things that await!

    In ER with Intestinal Blockage

Sister here still. Thanks everyone! My sister (Dragonfly) did well with surgery. Apparently they had to bypass the scarred section, not sure what that means. Hoping to know more today. She is very, very sore, but they seem to be managing her pain well.

Her sister posting again. It was scar tissue, he couldn't remove it so he had to bypass it. Not sure what that means? Does anyone know?

    In ER with Intestinal Blockage

thanks. Actually this is her sister, I was on the phone with her and she asked me to post if I could so the original post was by me through her on the phone. She was in agony last night and my mom brought her to the ER. She vomited profusely a couple of times. She is in surgery now.

    In ER with Intestinal Blockage

Anybody know what's about to happen to me from this point? My Dr is on his way in. I am curious how long I will have to stay, what surgery requires and the likelihood of this happening again. Thanks for any help.

    New pain post-op, help?

Wow, as sick as I was last night, I kept thinking maybe I should have some sugar-free pudding. I ate half and felt 80% better. I think I was hungry! It's weird, I don't "feel" hungry, but had an especially busy day with my kids and hadn't gotten around to a "dinner." I didn't realize it would...

    3 days post-op....Pain with drinking...normal????

I just had surgery last Tuesday - all drinks cause me pain. I'm now eating pureed foods, they don't bother me at all, but the drinking - ouch. I think it's just our bodies and that we'll adjust eventually. This is a pretty major surgery! My body is very active trying to heal and a lot of it...

    New pain post-op, help?

So today, day 8, I had my first morning with almost no pain. I was very happy. This afternoon, my stomach started to hurt in a new way. (Boys, cover your eyes) I attributed this to the fact that I began my menstrual cycle today. However, by this afternoon my stomach started to make loud gurgling...

    Opinion?

Thanks, all. This put my decision in the right perspective for me. I will take the third week; the quality of life, my recovery is more important than rushing back 5 days earlier than planned. :)

    Opinion?

Tomorrow will be one week since I have had my WLS. I am scheduled to be out of work for three weeks, but keep questioning if I should return after two. Does anyone have advice either way? Thanks :)

Glad to say i am h0me in one piece

Hi Sandie, It was me (having Tuesday surgery!). I share a lot of your complaints - the excess weight (gained 17 lbs. in the hospital), the incredible pain in the back and in between my shoulders. I'm glad you're ok! I've been looking to see how you've been doing. I am also lucky to get a shake...

    New just had surgery Monday.

I also had my surgery this week (Tuesday). I had also done all the research I possibly could, went to as many groups as I could and still I wasn't prepared. I liken it to childbirth. You can't really know until you go through it. I'm surprised at the amount of pain and discomfort that still...

    It is done!

Hi All, I'm home. The surgery went very well according to my doctor. I'm in an incredible amount of pain, but I'm sure it will all be worth it. I'm very swollen, gained 17 lbs. in the hospital so glad I lost 61 before going in. Had my surgery Tuesday. Any guesses as to when I'll be feeling...
