I too am a month out. I had bad protein issues between week 2 and 3. I did order the Unjury brand unflavored protein powder. Much better. I've had it a week now and mix it with crystal lite. It doesn't have the nasty smell or taste when mixed together. It does smell when I open the container...
Wow! I never knew that. Years ago I read somewhere that red and purple potatoes were the healthiest aside from a sweet potato. I will have to remember this when I get to potatoes. Now that I can have more foods I've decided to stay away from white food. Not worth filling up on.
Great thread!
I went through that too! I feel for you. I had so much angst before the surgery, I almost think that was the hardest part! It will come soon enough. Best wishes!
Julie,
I'll be glad to answer any questions I can. I'm doing okay. I had some water and protein issues but got some unflavored unjury brand protein and it is working fairly well. I think I still need more water and protein. I haven't had bread or any fried foods. My instructions don't include...
Hi there,
I had the same surgery a month ago. Just 2 weeks ahead of you. This place is great for info, questions, problems. I have learned so much here and am still learning. Let us know how things are going.
I love cauliflower like this! I substitute the milk with low fat Greek yogurt. I actually have been craving something like this. Is the cauliflower too gassy for being only one month out?
Well it's one month today! I think I'm doing great. Wish I was losing faster but I really had almost a 2 weeks standstill because of protein issues. I've gotten that straight for now and the losing kicked back in.
The best thing I have learned so far is protein and water are the key. What...
I had VSG too. I was told that pasta is okay but should be whole wheat or whole grain and cooked well done. I'd only try a tiny bit as you may get very full very fast. As Javajoy said eat the protein first. If you really want spaghetti why not spaghetti squash? It's yummy and better for everyone...
Bamababy, OMG, I am so sorry. I was thinking of you and worried not to see a post-op post. I'm glad you're okay, just not as okay as I know you wish you were. You will get better. You already have, right? Just do what they say.
Take good care,
pen
Sandie, I agree with javajoy, but a card to carry? I didn't get one. I remembered something about a card for restaurants but not for an emergency. I go to the doctor in 2 weeks do I need one?
Here's my 2 cents for what it's worth. I first was using a whey protein isolate that was flavored and sweetened with stevia. I really liked it during the pre-op phase and for the first week after surgery. Then the struggle began. The smell, the after taste. I began to have such a hard time. By...
It could be your thyroid. I was told to take your temp everyday for 2 weeks before getting out of bed when you first wake up. If its under 98* then get it checked. Sometimes regular blood work doesn't show it. I was told it wasn't my thyroid and 2 weeks later an endocrinologist did a test...
Good luck guys. You're almost on this side of it!
i had to big antiseptic wipes I had to use after my shower that had to be the night before surgery. I was not allowed to shower the day of.
I just did what they said. Pat said it right about getting the folds real good. I am so excited for you!
Wow, seems we all have had a variety of experiences. I had a pre-op at the hospital which they took blood, chest X-ray and and EKG. I signed my life away. I was there for 2 hours. I also had a pre-op with my dr and the nutritionist. I didn't expect how they did it. There were 6 of us. First the...
Oh my! I feel for you! I take celexa. I just crush it up and take with apple sauce. It's hard to swallow but somedays are better than others. I too think its a combination of everything. You've got a lot going on to pin point it. I'd consider going back on your Zoloft. Then see how you feel. You...
