    "Skinny" Jeans

Just came back from shopping for new jeans. I actually broke down when I saw myself in the mirror sporting a pair of "regular" (not "relaxed") fit 36" waist jeans. Talk about being "farkempt!" Luckily, my nephew was with me so I had someone to hug and share the moment. By the way, it's his...

    1 Year Anniversary Today!

Sounds like fun but last time I did a roller coaster (Everest Experience at Disney's Animal Kingdom I got so lightheaded and dizzy after I got off (I was fine during the ride) that I announced my retirement from thrill ride. It's A Small World is about as wild as I can get these days.;). I do...

    1 Year Anniversary Today!

Thanks! And congrats on your success! I graduated from physical therapy (for knee arthritis) today. Another problem tackled thanks to the weight loss. Celebrating with yet another cruise on Monday. I have my workout regimen already planned and it's not centered around the buffet either!;)...

    1 Year Anniversary Today!

Title is self explanatory. This is my new birthday. My weight loss is now 170 lbs. which I was hoping to hit today. Just got under the wire. Already had my follow-up visits as I previously posted. With cholesterol of 118, blood glucose of 72, and A1C of 5.0, and normal blood pressure, I...

Had my 12 month post op follow up with my dr and nutricitionist today

That is awesome about the diabetes med. Before my surgery my glucose level and A1C were both close if not already at the diabetes range but I was told by my doctors that they weren't concerned because the surgery should lower those #'s and they did. I haven't seen my new numbers but last...

Had my 12 month post op follow up with my dr and nutricitionist today

Thank you. The goal weight has a question mark because I really have no idea what I should weigh. I've been told by all of my doctors that I'm fine the way I am. I think the important thing is not to backslide. Yes, if I continue to lose weight that would be great. But the health benefits...

Had my 12 month post op follow up with my dr and nutricitionist today

This coming Saturday will be one year since my surgery and I went for my follow-ups with my surgeon and nutritionist. Both are very pleased with my progress. My blood work numbers are all excellent (cholesterol is 118!). I am to continue with the same food plan but the nutritionist would like...

Finally weight is under 200 lbs.!

Today's the day that I am officially de-classified as obese. My bmi is now under 30 so I'm just plain, ol' overweight. I know the whole thing is a joke. My physical therapist told me there was no way I was obese but it's still a major milestone in this journey.

Help! UHC denied due to no 3 year history

If you haven't already done so, consult with the person in your surgeon's office who deals with the insurance companies. Mine was great in giving advice. She saved me a lot of grief when I received officious letters from my insurer.

Finally weight is under 200 lbs.!

Thanks to all for the kind words. My next goal is to get under 30 bmi so I am no longer classified as obese. It's only 2 lbs away but they will be a frustrating 2 lbs. Maybe if I lose the goatee, trim the nails down to the quick, and have my head shaved I'll get there sooner! LOL

Finally weight is under 200 lbs.!

Well, just barely but still this is a tremendous milestone for me. Can't remember the last time the scale was under 200 lbs. As a matter of fact, it hasn't been that long since the scale was under 300 lbs. I'm still a month away from my 1 year anniversary so I'm hoping that I'll lose some...

10 months and 161 lbs. off!

Like a dream come true. I can't believe I'm so close to my goal weight. When I see my surgeon for my 12 month follow-up in August I'll discuss with him about a realistic weight for me. He was happy in February when I has maybe 40 lbs. heavier considering where I started but I'd like to see...

    9 Months Post Surgery

Had the gastric sleeve done on August 23, 2013. Nine months later I am down 152 lbs. which is 40% of my former weight (those with algebraic skills will be able to figure out my pre-op and current weights ;)). That means, of course, that I'm almost 1/2 my former size. What a wonderful feeling...

    Back from cruise

Hi all, since cruising seems to help me lose weight I took another one and now I am past the 100 lb. milestone.

    Back from cruise

Thanks all for your kind remarks. I couldn't respond earlier because I was on another cruise. Didn't lose as much this time but I lost a couple of pounds and have continued to lose since I got back. I just past my 3 month anniversary and I am 6 lbs. away from the 100 lb. milestone. That...

    Back from cruise

I took a 12 night cruise on Queen Mary 2. I managed to lose 9 lbs. which I am over the moon about. To tell the truth, the food wasn't all that good but even so, the old me would not have let that stop me from overindulging. It was very easy to stick to my meal plan and there were a lot more...
