    Sleeve

I too have been asking the same question of why choose one procedure over the other. I have been reading, researching, and talking to individuals that have had either procedure done. Initially I wanted to have the RNY but now I'm steering towards the sleeve. I will discuss this with my dr. next...

Article: Gastric Sleeve (Sleeve Gastrectomy) Information

I am reconsidering my procedure decision. At first I was leaning towards the bypass but due to the mal-absorption of nutrients, I feel I almost certainly would rather have the sleeve procedure done. After all, 50% more absorption of nutrients. I am discussing this with my dr. and surgeon next...

    Feeling dejected...

Never accept "no" for an answer. Have your primary doctor write letters after every doctor visit to the insurance company stating your health concerns and how obesity is affecting the quality of your life. I've heard stories like yours before and I am so sorry that overpaid insurance companies...

    Surgery moved up....WOOHOO !

I was tentatively scheduled to have surgery the 3rd week in December. Due to the fact I teach school and we get 2 weeks off for the holiday. My bariatric co-ordinator emailed me yesterday to say that my surgery will be the first week in December (depending on surgeon's schedule). She just...

Feeling Overwhelmed with all of my tests pre-op

Well I got the last of my appts. scheduled today. I will visit the pulmonary dr. the same day as I visit with the surgeon next. After that just waiting for clearance from all my evaluations so a date can be set. I've found local support from others that are having the same procedure done next...

    Recovery time-time off work.

Well after reading the comments from those of you that have already had the procedure done, I've decided if my holiday break isn't long enough to heal then I'll take whatever time off I need to. I feel it's important to get healing in the right direction and not to push one's self.

Feeling Overwhelmed with all of my tests pre-op

Well acutally I am feelling very fortunate to have been in this last batch of surgeries. There are 50 of us that met the criteria for the insurance pilot program. In fact there were 12 candidates in front of me before I made the cut. I have been reading and finding online resources for...

    What is "Dumping"?

Dumping was explained to me as to quick of food intake and not enough time for the nutrients to b absorbed. No water within 30 minutes of eating, before or after. Of course sticking to the meal plan and more importantly chewing, chewing, chewing ! My doctor was very honest to the fact if you...

    Recovery time-time off work.

I have a friend that had the sleeve done right after school was out. She said she could have come back in a week if school was in but was happy she had the summer to recoup. Where are you having surgery at ? I live in Oklahoma and am using the Bailey Bariatrics in Owasso.
