Thanks. I don't have the willy's, yet, but I'm sure they'll creep up on me.

    Allergies to Surgical Glues

Thanks for the advice. I've worried about the glue ever since I heard about the reaction. My friend told me that the blisters on the man were quite large, sore and itchy. Now I know there's a solution if it happens to me. I do have a tendency to break out from adhesives.

    Allergies to Surgical Glues

Have any of you had an allergic reaction (itching, blisters, etc.) from the surgical glue that's used in gastric bypass surgery. The person in the next bed of a friend of mine who just had the surgery broke out really badly. If you've had the problem, how was it "fixed"?

Well Oct 22 is surgery day at last

Congratulations. My surgery date is on the same day, and I have about the same amount of weight to lose. We should keep in touch. Good Luck.

Scared to death about upcoming gastric bypass surgery

I'm overwhelmed with the support I've gotten from each of you and consider each of you as friends. There's no way I can find the appropriate words to express what your support means to me. After reading my friends E-mail - and before hearing from all of you, I was ready to throw in the towel...

Scared to death about upcoming gastric bypass surgery

I "was" just having (I guess you'd say) the yo-yo's expected leading up to the surgery. After receiving the E-mail from my friend last night, though, it totally blew me out of the water. She was pleading with me to cancel the surgery and went into great detail to explain why. I didn't sleep...

Scared to death about upcoming gastric bypass surgery

My gastric bypass is scheduled for October 22, so I'm having the typical yo-yo emotions I figure everyone feels. However, I just received an E-mail from a good friend of mine. She told me a story about a close friend of hers who had all sorts of horrendous complications as a result of the...

surgery on th 15th of October!!!

Congratulations. Mine is scheduled for October 22. We should keep in touch to see how each other is doing. Do you have to get several physician's okay for surgery between now and then? I have to. I even have to have an endoscopy done (can't figure out why). Good luck.

    Hair loss

Hair, Skin and Nails is actually "Biotin". You might want to compare prices between the two. It "may" be cheaper to simply buy straight Biotin. You can purchase it in higher dosages, too. I've been using it for years, and it does wonders.

I got the call - Sept. 19th Yeah!!!! When Do I see the Nutritionist?

Mine's scheduled for October 22. Best of luck for yours. I'm almost jealous, because I have to wait another month. I'm wanting it done "NOW". Please write back to let me know what to expect. I'd really appreciate it. Congratulations, too...

    Lasix (Fluid Pills)

Thanks for your advice. I have had problems with fluid retention along with high blood pressure. That's why the Lasix dosage is so high. I've made a note, though, to contact my Nephrologist in the morning.

    1 week after surgery

Yuk!!! I spoke with my surgeon's nurse this morning. She told me I'd have 2 drainage tubes that would be removed a week after the surgery. I have no idea what the second tube is for. It's weird how different surgeons do different things. At least she told me I'd be able to shower on the...

    1 week after surgery

Pat - If you'll look on the internet under oldnavygap, you find that they have some real comfortable jeans that have an elastic waistband. The jeans look just like "regular" jeans, too, , but they have some stretch. Also, it would be easy to alter them as you lose weight. I usually don't like...

    1 week after surgery

My surgeon requires that I stay in the hospital 2-3 days. Then I have to keep the drain tube in until my first office visit a week after surgery or a week after discharge. I'm not which which it will be. The surgeon has a person from home health care come to my house once a day to drain the...

    1 week after surgery

What's the purpose of the drain tube? My surgeon has a home health care person come to the house each day to "redress" it, but I don't know what that means. Do you know? How long is the tube left in your body?

    1 week after surgery

My gastric bypass is scheduled for October 22. I still don't know, though, how many incisions will be made or how long the incisions will be. Can anyone tell me? I'm also concerned about getting blood or seepage on my clothing on the way home from the hospital or after I get home. Is that...

    light headed

From your symptoms, I knew that the problem had to be low blood pressure, because I've experienced it myself. I'm glad you were able to get the problem resolved. I'll send you a bill in the morning (just kidding). Hope you start feeling better.

    Pre-Surgical Office Visits and Tests

I'm in the middle of volunteering (I'm a Team Leader and Recruiter) in the Presidential campaign - wasn't realistically thinking my surgery would be scheduled until some time in November even though they initially said Pumpkin season. I received a call from the office girl who does the...

    Lasix (Fluid Pills)

I had heard that most people are able to discontinue taking BP meds after the surgery, but I had no idea it could happen that fast. I had assumed that it would take place several months after the surgery. I've been procrastinating calling my Nephrologist. I think I'd better call him today...

    Pre-Surgical Office Visits and Tests

I realize there is a small chance I could turn to alcohol. While I was waiting in their office on my last visit a lady came in, and we began chatting while we waited. She told me that she had become an alcoholic after the surgery. She ended up having to go to rehabilitation for 2 years as a...
