I got the call - Sept. 19th Yeah!!!! When Do I see the Nutritionist?

That seems like such a long time. I hope the insurance coordinator was correct as to when I should be having my surgery. Otherwise, I'll probably be nuts by the time it gets here. I didn't have a weight problem until I had to begin taking some medicines that slow your metabolism and cause...

I got the call - Sept. 19th Yeah!!!! When Do I see the Nutritionist?

Whew!!! They really made you jump through hoops. From what I've been told so far, my surgery should take place during "pumpkin season", and I just started. We moved from WV to FL about a year and a half ago. Therefore, my new PCP hasn't seen me enough to have a lot to say with respect to my...

    Medicines

Thanks so much for the information. I'm definitely going to take a sample of each of my medicines with me when I see the nutritionolist (spelled wrong). I never would have thought of that idea. From what I've been told, my blood pressure should come into control once I've had the surgery...

    which type of incision

Once you're completely healed from the open type of surgery, a product called Mederma really decreases the look of the scar. I used it for 4 months, 4 times per day after my knee replacement surgery, and the only scar I have is a really thin (almost transparent) scar.

    Medicines

I have to take several medicines due to health problems. The type of problems I have won't be corrected with the surgery. Does anyone know how I'll be taking the medicines?

What type of protein shake do you use? What is your favorite?

I'm new, too and haven't had the surgery, yet. I've had my blood work and the psychological and neutritional appointments have been made. I'm like you; I have so many questions and keep thinking of more. I just joined the forum a couple of days ago and love it.

    surgery in 3 days

Thanks for all the great information. I've just discovered this forum and already love it. It's great to be able to talk to people with the same weight problem as me without feeling like the Goodyear blimp.

    JFK Memorial Hospital

I've already had my appointment with Dr. Simon. His nurse did the usual "nurse thing" plus calculated my BMI. After a consultation with Dr. Simon, we decided on the gastric bypass for me. My appointment with the psychologist and nutritionist are set up about two weeks from now. I've already...

Thanks for the information, Tom. I'm anxious to get started.

    surgery in 3 days

Thanks for the information. It's encouraging. I'd hate to miss Christmas morning with the grandkids, because it's a big deal in our family. If I have the surgery before the end of the year, it'll cost $900 or less out of pocket due to medical expenses I've already accrued. If I wait until...

Coming up on my two year anniversary and I still feel inferior to everyone!

I haven't had the surgery yet but plan to lose about 110 pounds. I've already got belly flab from two child births. In your experience, do you think I'll have a lot more flab after losing the weight? Does Medicare cover cosmetic surgery for a tummy tuck if you have serious lower back...

    JFK Memorial Hospital

Have any of you had your surgery done by Dr. Simon at JFK Memorial Hospital outside of Lake Worth, FL? If so, please give me the pre-surgery requirements, post-surgery requirements and if you were happy with the surgery. Also, did it take long to get the necessary insurance approvals. Thanks.

New here and have insurance questions

I just recently saw the surgeon with regard to the surgery. Within 3 weeks, I'll see the nutritionist. The girl who handles the insurance says I'll probably have the surgery by the end of October. Is it possible for things to happen that quickly? I've heard all kinds of stories where it...

I got the call - Sept. 19th Yeah!!!! When Do I see the Nutritionist?

I'm a little confused. Do you get the approval for the surgery prior to seeing the nutritionist or after? I'm scheduled to see the nutritionist on September 5 and just recently saw the surgeon who's going to do the surgery. I do have Medicare. I'm really anxious to have the surgery ASAP, so...

    surgery in 3 days

I haven't had the surgery yet, but according to the doctors office, it'll probably take place around the end of October. We live in Florida and always go back to WV for Christmas. Do any of you think I'll have a problem (driving) going this year? If we had to, we could probably fly.

What type of protein shake do you use? What is your favorite?

I'm happy to hear information on Unjury. Although I haven't had the surgery yet, I've been reading every piece of information I can find on the internet. That's how I discovered this website. I ran across Unjury, because I liked it's description. I even printed the information to take to the...
