4 day post op..

Hello, I am 4 days post op from DAVINCI BYPASS GASTRIC ROUX EN Y. I haven't had a whole lot of symptoms... however possible gas/ surgical air pains?

I have done walking and even trying just using a shower head to help get it out. I guess my question is can the "gas" still even be in there? The pain is on my upper right side and it just feels like I need to burp but can't. any suggestions or tips are greatly appreciated!!

It is gas, or air, trapped in your abdomen. You may notice tiny dots of pain on your arm, as well, since the gas moves all over to find good places to escape the body. It will probably last a few days.

I'd just take it easy, lay down and rest (that IS what I did) and allow the pain to pass. I don't know how you could speed it up, but in most open surgical procedures, the doctor squeezes the organs together to make the gas move before it's stitched up.

Not everyone has such a severe reaction to the gas, but if you do, it can feel like you're literally being stabbed. People use heating pads or ice packs to lessen the pain in spots where it appears. If you have trouble sleeping, surround your body with pillows if you can, and make sure they're stuffed under your body to elevate the abdominal cavity. I'm sorry you are suffering, but I can assure you, it will go away.

I do have like mild pins and needles feeling in my hand, I think that's the worst so far is this dang gas XD I appreciate the tips

Walking around helps. I was also allowed GasX. If your surgeon allows it, I thought it helped.
