A little depressed

Hi, I had sleeve surgery on 1/9. I was/am struggling with this issue too. I was told it can happen. The therapist that I go to actually quit her position a few weeks ago and I am in the process of finding a new one to help me. The surgeon who handled my surgery has no support groups on offer until March, which complicates things.

It can be a huge struggle to learn yo deal with your emotions without food .. And about food. I wish more programs had Post Op Therapy requirements.
I agree, I also struggled with depression during the beginning. I was so excited about the idea of being able to loose weight and eat less but it wound up being for me 6 weeks of no solid foods. Then onto pureed, you all know the deal. It can get you down. I'm sure it will pass as you see your weightloss and as you progress to the actual food stages. The time will pass, but keep remembering why you did this. When you can go back to food remember to keep your portions small, but enjoy.
Putting you both on my prayer list. Good luck and reach out if you need

Hi Mimi, that makes a lot of sense. It's just so tough experiencing it. I'm having great difficulty finding a therapist in my area with openings (the one I had quit her position in early January, and the counseling center is overwhelmed, so I'm on a waiting list). The surgeon I used doesn't offer much after surgery support. I spoke with the surgeon's physician assistant and they told me depression can happen after the surgery for a variety of reasons and to attend therapy for help.
