I quit cold turkey 12 years ago. I haven’t had a cigarette since. My “method” for quitting was whenever I wanted to smoke I would call my husband and literally bitch until the craving passed. He would answer his cell phone put it on speaker lay it down - work while I ranted. I would say ok craving has passed - he would say ok talk to you in 10 minutes. Sounds weird but it was how I quit smoking.
Smoking can impact recovery from surgery. It can delay healing and that can cause infection. Smokers are also more at risk of blood clots after surgery than non smokers.
There are a lot of other health issues related to surgery and smoking. Best of luck to you figuring all this out.
