Barium test

Yes, but not for my bypass. I had damage due to gerd and they did a bunch of motility tests and a barium X-ray. My husband just had to have a barium test to be approved for WLS. I would not say it's a lot of liquid to take it, it's the holding it, waiting to swallow that annoyed me. But neither my husband nor I had any problem completing the test and he has an immediate gag reflex to pretty much everything. So, you should be fine.

I had a barium test pre and post op. Post op was less liquid and with me they wanted it swallowed slowly since they needed to check for leaks. The pre op was harder for me because the taste was awful. The post op I was so thirsty even though I’d been drinking, that I really didn’t care about the taste.

I assume you are talking about post surgery? I had to have one shortly after surgery and they said to do the best that you can. Let them know when you are there having your test what your concern is and they will try to work with you.
Thank you .... Yes, I am 9 years out and still eat/drink only a little - I normally do 2.4 oz every 1 1/2 hours. Thanks... I've very concerned I'll be wasting their time.

Yeah, I've had them before my surgery and it was difficult due to the taste - but I am really afraid of the amount. If I eat too much now, I go to the bathroom right away or throw up. ugh..... thanks
