I had gastric bypass feb 28th. My strating weight was 322. I'm 5 weeks post op now and i'm only down 27lbs. And only 4lbs of that is from the last 2 weeks. I don't understand it. I'm staying around 600 calories a day. I just never expected it to be so hard to loose weight even after gastric bypass. what am I doing wrong?:(

Chaas-Welcome to the forum. Plateaus happen. Quite literally it's your body's way of conserving energy for survival. I had my RNY one day before you and I'm down 28.5 pounds. I was disappointed that I didn't lose more too. I went one full week without losing even 1 pound and even had a 1 pound weight gain. I am currently eating around 800 calories a day but of course was eating less calories for the first 3 weeks. I've been visiting this forum since November 2011 and have read quite a few posts from members who have gone through the exact same thing as we are. It will happen from time to time. If you become overly concerned start keeping a food journal then call your nutritionist for guidence. Just make sure you are getting enough protein and fluids every day. I promise the weight will come off if you follow the meal plans given to you by the surgeon. None of us got to the weight we are overnight and it's not going to come off overnight either!!!

Keep a good attitude, eat healthy, get your proteins and fluids in daily and don't weigh yourself more than 1 or 2 times a week. Make sure you come back to the forum to share your experiences with us.
