I had my surgery on the 19th of this month. I feel good today on the 28th. Still a little sore. My RNY was also joined with a haital surgery repair. My recovery is a little longer than others. Any one else go through this.

Anyone out there have extensive pain on their left side. I bent over from a sitting position last night to pet my dog and its been hurting ever since.

I did. The excess stomach removed from surgery was removed on the left side! So, that could be where your discomfort is coming from! Please be sure and check with your Bariatric Surgeon on that! And if so, that person can send you in some pain meds, if the pain becomes uncontrollable!

Dear Smith, thanks for the Advice. I'm 2 weeks post-op and feeling much better. I talked to my My Doctor's office and they asked about my bowel movements and I have been getting once a day, but the last five days none. Today that all ended and the pain relived itself. So I guess its just a result of slow digestion. Thanks, Razor

Ah! Yes! I didn't even consider that! You're bowel habits will change, for sure! Pre-op, it happened more frequently. Post-op, I'm lucky if its every 5 days! I have been utilizing hot butter prune juice since seeing it on youtube; as a natural laxative! & that seems to loosen everything up! But every 5 days has become normal, albeit uncomfortable!

I pray that you're healing up well!

Nothing has changed for me in the 75 years of my life, including post-op, with the exception of two weeks or so post-op. I think it's a body's natural defense against putting too much pressure on the abdominal area until it heals up. However, my team did put me on fiber lax to prevent lumpy or hard stool, and that was awesome. But my bowel rhythm has been the same all my adult life unless I was sick.
