I had the lap band in 2018. I just had it taken out on April 1st of this year because it was not working properly. I am trying to decide which surgery to have done now, either the gastric bypass or the sleeve surgery. Can anyone recommend or help me with the pros and cons of both surgeries? I know it will be several months before I can have anything done.

I think you should read through the thousands of posts here by keyword and see what members have personally testified to about either procedure. But even if you do that, you might be left with mixed feelings. I had RYGB 20 years ago and feel pretty confident I made the best decision. Of course, the sleeve wasn't really available then, but based on reading posts here, I would never recommend the sleeve. That's an opinion, not a real medical analysis.

Two factors come to mind: do you want to lose a lot of weight easily? Do you want to avoid a lot of downtime? I think each of those considerations points to the advantage of each surgery--easy weight loss, RYGB or "RNY". Less downtime, sleeve.

I'm scared to get the rny due to me having mild gastroparesis and I've heard not so good things about it iron issues and other stuff
