I was the same way with fluids, no problem at all after the first day. Before surgery, I was always a big water drinker, goal of a gallon a day and can drink as I always have. I think it is a person-to-person thing and we're some of the lucky ones. :)

Hi Brenda thank you so much for and answering my question I’m going crazy thinking oh my God this didn’t work and I have to go and have another surgery to fix it or something I’m like you I used to drink a gallon of water a day no problem and same right I can drink a lot of water and have protein shake and feel nothing in my stomach

Hehe, I thought the exact same thing at first - it didn't work!!! Nope, not the case Lou. :) If you're like me, I never felt full but didn't feel hunger either. It's like a switch was turned off for the first 6 months. I took full advantage of that time. ;)

What surgery did you have??

it's only been three days since your surgery. I don't think that anything that is happening right now will be typical of things that happen later. And I find it astonishing to imagine you can drink a half bottle of water in one shot though you don't say how big that bottle is. Depending on the surgery you should maybe even still be in the hospital right now. Don't get ahead of yourself. But if you are one of the lucky people like Brenda and like me who enjoy water and drink lots of it, everything about your recovery is going to be better. but don't guzzling and glug. You should not be eating or drinking anything quickly. Everything you do should be in sips, especially right after surgery. Your body is healing and you have had some serious incisions. Take it easy and enjoy the ride.
Good evening I took-sips of water and im a water lover too all these days been taking your guys advice I decided to eat a little broth with protein powder boy was that a mistake after three little sips I got the worst craps in my stomach my god my knees were shakin that really hurts.well now I will make sure I take it slow thank u all for ur advice now I really understand when people say that there is too much pain if u don’t follow this to a t well I’m starting my new life thank u for all the help

Hi Lou. Sorry you are having problems with your vitamins and eating in general. I do wonder about the vitamins. My dr was very adamant about me not using gummy vitamins. She said that they may not dissolve/break up as well and could get caught in the suture line causing pain. Have you tried just the Flintstone chewables? I wonder if that small change may help your stomach overall and allow you to get some pureed food into your system. Have you talked to your dr about this? Make sure your team is kept up on any occurrences like this because no two people are the same and your reactions to vitamins and food may be completely different than mine or anyone else's here.

As for the infused waters, I tried a couple the first week after surgery and they tasted too sweet for my liking. At this point, I might enjoy them but I haven't tried them again since. I don't know if you are looking into it because you are trying to find a way to hit your daily water goal, but if so, try altering the temp of the water as well. If you are having problems with cold, try room temp or warm. That could help too!

Good luck!

I know one of our members slices up cucumbers and adds fresh mint (I think it's mint). She really enjoys it. I love Hint Water. I ordered them at the suggestion of another member here. They are the same idea but pre-made. I order from Amazon.
