Considering revision surgery

Hi, I’m new on here but have had my lapband for 12 years now. It took years before I lost the weight. I went to more fill visits then I wanted and I constantly vomited . Six years ago I started to put the weight on again and now no matter what I do and with all the restrictions I can’t lose any weight. I am in the process of getting approved for the removal of my band and get a gastric bypass.
I’m so scared. I not only feel like a failure but I also feel like I have gone through so much already. My emotions are everywhere. I just wish I knew I was making the right decision. Any advice would be great! Thanks for listening ❤️

Your story could be my story. About 10 or 11 years ago I had the Lapband and lost about 90 lbs. Started to have issues with it. Food started to come back into my mouth while I was sleeping and was afraid I would aspirate it in my sleep. I had the doctor remove all the restriction in the band. It didn't take long for the weight to come back. Just before I got to a complete regain, it was suggested to me to consider a revision to VSG. I too had the feeling of being a failure once again, so you are not alone. Last June I had the revision and for me the sleeve is so much better than the Lapband. So far I have lost 123 lbs (including the pre-surgery diet). But I have to say that I am taking it one step further to insure I don't repeat any mistakes of the past. I am also working on the mental aspect and learning to love myself and give myself respect through this process. We have to learn to give ourselves grace. We are human and while we make mistakes, we can learn from them.

So my advice is not to be ashamed of needing a revision. Do it and be better at it than you were before. You can do this! And stay here for support along the way. This is a great group! All the best to you!
