I am a type 2 diabetic and have stopped taking all insulin and all diabetic meds since 1 week pre-op, being on the liquid diet brought my blood sugars low. Now, I am four days post-op, and I am going low, i then take a sugar tablet to bring myself back up, and then am running to the bathroom minutes later (I believe that is what “dumping” is).
What are other diabetics doing to combat a low? I’m at a loss!

Of course, you should ask your medical team what they suggest. Perhaps you could add a small bit of apple juice to your water, or even sub in a gatorade, to get a steady yet smaller dose of sugar to help regulate.

Hello, Sorry you are struggling. But, you should definitely be asking your doctor and/or surgeon how to address this. Diabetes is nothing to mess with.

Thank you— I have, docs are on it. I was hoping to find some ‘tricks’ or info from people also dealing with this— as I get the best advice from others in similar situations.
