Diarrhea

You shouldn't take a prescription before trying a fiber lax. The label on the beneficial laxative will tell you its psyllium.i take it at bed time.
I just switched from Benefiber, which I started (thanks to you!) just before gastric bypass July 12th of last year, to sf Metamucil as of yesterday. I am taking 2 spoonfuls twice daily. This is to help with the added fiber, and to help stay fuller and reduce my evening & nighttime snacking.

I decided to try the weight-loss aspect after reading that info suggestion on the label. This is part of my 10 month post-surgery reset strategy to lose the remaining 35lbs needed to reach my goal of 100lbs lost by the end of summer. I've "stepped-up" my daily movement amounts, increased my protein amounts including a daily protein shake, and added the Metamucil "challenge." I will triumph, and my surgery twin is an awesome support system (and vice-versa)!

Interesting, I didn't know that! Let us know how it works for you. I currently take Benefiber too and may consider switching.

I sure will let you know, Judy. So far, as Diane said, the bulked up part in my stomach & intestine seems to help me feel fuller, esp in the evening.

The only downside is the BIG difference in taste and texture. Unlike Benefiber, sf Metamucil becomes thick and gelatinous quickly. I put it in the cup, add 8ozs water & stir, then basically chug it. And I follow up immediately with a 2nd 8oz cup of water. So my stomach has to be completely empty before I drink this. I do this 1st thing in the morning and early evening. I really don't mind the different taste & texture, mainly because I used to drink Metamucil for 20+ years due to my diverticulosis condition.
