Don’t know

So i have been looking at the food american bariatrics sell on this site and others like chips, mug cakes, candy, pancakes , bread, pasta you name it .And they sound like great options for the food we’re not supposed to have. But i thought the whole point of surgery was to stay away from these or eat them once in a while. Do you just eat a small amount or do you eat a whole bag of chips or cookies like we used too it would be pretty tempting.I bought a bag Whisps they’re called kinda like baked cheese I was tempted to eat the whole bag. Also made some cheese popcorn called moon cheese if you buy it.What I want to know is do you think they’re just trying to make money of us that just had surgery ? Or do we eat these products in moderation?

I agree that it's a racket Bill. These are junk foods (no nutritional value) even if they're a "better for you" version. I remember years before surgery, being told by a nutritionist to stay away from diet soda so that I'd loose the taste for super-sweet drinks. Even though there are no calories is diet soda, drinking it maintains a sweet-tooth. I think the same applies to these "better for you" snacks. Keeps your palate wanting these kinds of snack foods.

I'm not one of the most health-conscious members on this site but still think that if it has no nutritional value, stay away for the most part. I'd rather have a great homemade fudge brownie with walnuts on a Saturday night than eat a whole box of brownie impersonators throughout the week. ;)

I have always thought that the "replacement" foods are just feeding into the same mentality that brought us to obesity. Too much is too much whether it is packaged as "healthy" or not. 5000 calories of whatever every day is going to cause gain, whether there are veggies in the mix or not. My goal, personally, is to find natural replacements - like spaghetti squash or zoodles instead of pasta, cauliflower rice instead of regular - I make kale chips at home. I make "nice" cream using frozen bananas and other fruits. Frozen banana slices and frozen grapes are awesome and a great way to satisfy my sweet tooth.
