Eating after surgery

I’m only one day 2 since my surgery and am having a hard time knowing when I’m hungry. How did you handle the first few days after surgery
I spent the 1st week sipping water to get my 64 oz in, stopping 30 minutes before & after my 1/2 protein shake 4 times throughout the day. It took at least 1/2 hour to drink the half carton, so although I wasn't hungry, I was eating & drinking on a schedule. I wrote my times down, and also tracked my meds. I didn't start feeling any real hunger until recently, about 4 months past my surgery. Good luck.

I'm 36 days post op...it was hard in the beginning to know the difference between stomach pain and hunger pains...but eventually you will learn the difference. I would get EXTREME hunger pains in the middle of the night. I just learned to sip on my protein to try and keep the hunger at bay. Its definitely going to be and adjustment to learn your body. I'm 36 days out and I'm still learning
I just realized...Today is the 4th so I'm 37 days out

Food made sick for the first month or so… probably why I lost the amount of weight I did but after that first month things started normalizing again (our new normal). Slowly I could eat more but even at almost 6 months out my stomach never growls or anything to let me know I’m hungry. It’s hard to describe other than it’s VERY different now cause it feels more about my body craving fuel then it does eating for pleasure. Does that make sense? Best wishes to you, hope you have a good recovery :)
