Emotional and overwhelmed

I had my sleeve surgery two days ago. And most of the pain from the air and gas has slowly started going away. But I find myself super emotional at times. Where ill just start crying for no reason. Its frustrating and wonder if this is normal or has anyone else went through this ?

My RNY bypass was Monday. I’ve been in some pain because they took my gallbladder out as well, and that’s where a lot of the pain is radiating from. The physical aspect right now is taking over any of the mental for me. How long did it take to have your sleeve? I started my process in January, so I am happy that I’m over the line now. I ask because my surgeons office mentally prepared me very well, so I’m not sure I’ll have any emotion side effects other than being happy about this. Not happy about the discomfort though.

I had bypass surgery on 7/20 and was really emotional and cried a lot second guessing if I made the right decision having this surgery. I’m so happy now and have lost 55 pounds. I have so much energy and feel great. Hang in there. It gets better in time. Your body have gone through a lot. Take things one day at a time.

I think many of us go through some emotional ups/downs after surgery. There are a lot of hormonal changes that occur after surgery and many biological adjustments your body is making, so it's not unusual. Things should balance out after a while, but obviously if things don't feel like they are getting better reach out to your bariatric team for advice/support.

I did some crying as well. I think around 6 weeks post op you will start making some stride. We have taken on quite a bit and it could be overwhelming especially when you compile other life events along with it. This support group has been extremely helpful to me and hope it can be for you as well.
