Feminine question.

Member
I had my surgery back in July and I've only had my period once. I was irregular before because of PCOS but I was under the impression that bypass surgery corrected that matter.

I am planning on talking to my doctor but they canceled my appointment for the past week so ill have to wait a few more weeks.

Has anyone else had similar experiences, and is it something I should worry about? Or am I just being paranoid.

Trish,

I certainly don't think it is anything to worry about. I think it is related to hormonal changes related to your weight loss. Young athletes who are extremely active and on restrictive diets to keep weight down often are without their menstrual periods. It is something you need to discuss with your physician, surgeon, or GYN. I had a hysterectomy so don't have to worry about that. If you are of child bearing age it might be a problem so check with your doctor.

I dont have any feminine issues along those lines, but shortly after surgery I had to have a cervical conization done and my cycles have been a little weird. I still have them monthly but the flow is totally different than what I am used to.
