Hi!!!
This is my first post here. I had VSG surgery January ‘14 and did well until the last year when I found out I had a hiatal hernia. After much discussion and thinking I had a conversion to a mini bypass with the hernia repair to hopefully ensure it doesn’t come back and help with 30 lbs that came back all of a sudden a little over a year ago.
So I am day 6 post op and have a couple questions for others who have gone through something similar :
Warning might be TMI:)
First I also have terrible constipation anyways, I have had 1 small BM day 4. Yesterday (day 5,6) and today I have been experiencing severe discomfort in my upper right back and side. If I put mild pressure I can feel more specifically the area . I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this around the same time frame? And what it was that was causing it? I am wondering if it’s near the site of the anastomoses and maybe related to a semi blockage?
Thank so much for any feedback and advice:)

Hi and welcome. Congratulations on your surgery.

Hmm, I can't really offer much advice because my digestive problems are the complete opposite. Have you called your surgeon? I would be worried about a blockage as well.

I had my revision to bypass in August - took 21 days to be able to use the bathroom, and it was very uncomfortable... I had the same upper right back and side pain. Mine was not a blockage - it was soreness because that is the side where you all the "work" was done - so the side was more soreness from actual surgery, and back was just as a result of my stomach/core not supporting me the way they normally do. If you are concerned, always check with your surgeon.
