Hi all, I had my first meal on Sunday fish and veggies. I did really well. The next day I ate the same thing, but less. The next morning I woke up ready to vomit, and could barely get anything down yesterday. Kind of confused. Have gone back to protein and yogart today. Should I wait and try again in a few days? I spoke with the nutritionist the other day and she said I am right where I should be going into week 7 on Thursday. Is this just part of WLS? I had the sleeve so I know there are different food allowances for other types of surgery. I have done exactly what I have been instructed at the timetable I was given. Whats up?

Kim-You have to go by what you can handle, not what the meal plan shows. Everyone is different when it comes to what each of us can tolerate at any point of our recovery. I had a heck of a time eating fish and meat. I didn't get nauseated but it made my pouch hurt. I still can only eat a couple bites of "whole" meat or fish, except I can eat canned tuna with a little lite mayo without problems. I have no problems with canned turkey, canned chicken, lean ham and turkey lunchmeats. I guess anything that has been chopped and formed is easier for me to break down. Just make sure any fish or meat you eat is moist and tender and chew it really, really well.

Hi Kim, Pat is right we are all different, I feel fortunate that I was able to follow the plan to a T but my meal plan from the hospital also said when you try something and it doesnt agree with you move back to the soft foods, so it sounds like you are on track and doing fine, remember the meal plan is a guide to help us along the way and but it is also based on experience from others throughout the years. Give it a few days and try somthing else that is suggested. Tom

I agree, you should do what feels right to you. I don't stick to the meal plan 100%, but use it as a general guideline. If there is something that I want, I will try it, if my pouch can handle it, then I will try it again. If not so much, then I will wait for a while before trying it. Like right now, I don't have much of an appetite, today I had a cheesy polish dog couldn't finish the whole thing, but man did it taste good. But it has been 5 hours and I am not in the least bit hungry.

Maybe you just pushed it a little eating 2 times in a row. Hope things get better.
