Consider finding a therapist who has experience with bariatric patients. We will only experience the highest levels of benefit from this surgery for a few months to a year. Long term success is predicated on changing our relationship with food and making good choices. If that continues to be a struggle, reaching out to a therapist to discover why you make poor food choices may be key to your success. It's not comfortable to do so, but it needs to be confronted. We are not going to be perfect, and that is okay. Making poor choices sometimes is human nature, but you also have to be wary of the risk that comes with those choices. Now is the time to build good habits and take time to discover why you might be slipping into old habits.
Tracking food does help, but definitely look to the psychological aspects of those old habits and explore therapy. Don't risk losing the benefits of this biological tool you've been given. It has to be taken advantage of now, during this first year.
