Help!

Hi, brand new here. I had bariatric sleeve July 25. I lost 35 pounds and now nothing for 5 weeks. I’m really scared that the surgery wasn’t successful. I will say that I’m not as active as I was. Discouraged with the pandemic and all. Hours spent at my desk.

Welcome Paularose, Hang in there you are doing great. Have you been tracking your protein, water and calories? Everyone loses at a different rate I know it’s frustrating but your starting weight is a lot lower than most so you don’t have as much to lose.
I would suggest going back to the basics and jump start your weight loss like go back to full liquid for a week or two or do a protein shake for breakfast and lunch then for dinner or snacks weigh out your portions and start walking I’m not talking 4 miles a day start off with 3 days a week either go by time like 30 minutes or maybe a mile then add from there once it becomes a habit
You got this, it’s just a bump in the road. Don’t give up there are so many people here who have or are in your same shoes if you need help or encouragement this is the site.

Hi Paularose, welcome! Stalls can be very frustrating for sure and most of us have experienced them. If you aren't already tracking your water & protein intake, now would be the time to do so to make sure you are getting at least the minimum under your doctor's guidelines. Bumping up water intake often helps. Knowing your average calorie intake can help too. If it's very low, you might want to boost it up for a while with some healthy foods. Or if you feel it is too high, journaling your food will help you see where you can cut out extra calories and make adjustments. Hang in there, be persistent, it will pay off!

Thank you JudyNY. I haven’t been doing so well with any of that. I’ll start setting my daily bottles of water out again and tracking calories. I guess I just gave up. Really, really need to get it together!

Paula, I'm glad you found it helpful. Please stay in touch and let us know how you are doing. I find it really helps to stay in contact with others who have been through the surgery too.

Hi. Stalls absolutely happen and can last far longer than we are comfortable with. But also, especially early in your journey it is imperative that you not only track your food and water intake but that you measure it as well. Foods that are easier to eat due to being less dense/easy to digest, often become easy to over eat as well. Sadly, the surgery does not always keep all of us within the suggested serving sizes. Mine did not and I had the bypass which gives you a smaller pouch and is more restrictive. I had WLS June 22nd and still weigh/measure everything. I have become pretty good at eyeballing it but consistently grab an extra .2oz when I grab for an ounce of almonds. So, if I were to accidentally give myself 20% extra every time I eat something .. you can see where this might be an issue. Now, this may not actually BE your issue, but it is the best place to start looking. Good luck.

Thank you Missy! I needed to hear this. I haven’t been tracking anything and the intake has increased more and more. Basically, I think I need to start over. I’m taking all replies seriously and will implement them. I am definitely discouraged a nit motivated but I am going to try! The encouragement from everyone is SO welcome and appreciated.
