Hernia Repair

Geez! If it was not for this hernia repair, I think I would be having almost no issues.
Monday will be two weeks out but I had to go in yesterday because I was afraid that my open wound was getting infected. I did not have any fever but the wound is so RED and it drains a lot. Well it looks like I am having a reaction to all the tape and it is also getting little blisters. The surgeon( not mine) said he thought it was fine but come in again for my scheduled two appointment on Monday.

My best friend had to come stay with me all week because the wound has to be packed daily so it heals from the inside out.
The hubby works out of town so not very convenient. I am not sure who is going to pack this for me this upcoming week. Hopefully the doctor will say I can stop packing it.
Today I am just leaving it uncovered and I look ridiculous because I have my top tucked under my breasts so I don't get drainage on it.
Sorry! Probably TMI but I feel silly. Luckily my son is working out of town today so he does not have to see me like this. Haha!

On another note-has anyone heard from Mamabear? I am getting worried so if someone has heard from her and I just missed it, please let me know.

That does sound uncomfortable! I hope they can help you at your appointment on Monday.
 
Hi @honeysgirl, I'm so sorry you had the problems with the tape...this can really be aggravating.
Is it possible to get home health services arranged by the doctor's office-- for 1 or 2 weeks of daily dressing changes? You are considered homebound during this time because you cannot be driving yourself to the office to get wound care, and you are unable to do it yourself. And bless your heart: even during your recovery, you're concerned about Mamabear.

Hi Honeysgirl:
I have a large hital hernia, which cause'es me shortness of breath. The doctor won't fix it unless I get the roux en y done.
has anyone or yourself been told this?

Well I had the RNY because I have diabetes and acid reflux. Doc said the acid reflux would most likely get worse with the sleeve and then we would end up doing a revision to RNY anyway.
I didn't even know I had the hiatal hernia until I had the endoscopy. It was probably hard to tell if some of my issues were coming from Gastroparesis or the hiatal hernia but the vomiting and nausea were getting really bad.
Learning what I have learned on this site and a few other places, I don't think I would do the sleeve.
I hope you can make a decision on what to do.
