Hey, everyone. New here

My names Tiffany, and I’m working my way to getting VSG. Last week was my 1st appt with surgeon, I still have little ways to go yet, but I’m in no rush I’m still learning as I go.... has anyone else had their weigh-ins with the dietician/nutritionist and haven’t lost weight before surgery? I’ve stayed around the same weight for 3 months now, like I’m in maintenance mode? Lol

Welcome!! I lost weight between my first and second appointment. I’ve gained a couple pounds back, but the dietician isn’t worried because I’m close to the BMI cut off with no comorbidity. My surgeon hasn’t even written in liquid diet orders for presurgery yet even though I have fatty liver. They just want to make sure I don’t disqualify myself, so they want me to maintain.

Welcome Tif. So was today your first weigh-in or just your first appt with the actual surgeon? I think with the virus madness, weight loss these past couple months shouldn't matter much. You mention that you still have time, perhaps you could start cutting things out in stages? Like if you drink soda, give that up. A week or two later cut out unhealthy snacks & desserts, perhaps after that, give up bread and pasta... doing it in stages is a great way when you have the time and aren't rushing to loose a certain amount.

And first things first, if you aren't already a big water drinker, that needs to change today. The common recommendation from surgeons is 64 oz per day. Good luck with everything and keep us posted.

I’ve been seeing the nurse, dietician, nutritionist once a month since March already. Last Thursday was just the first time meeting surgeon and they gave me papers showing what stage I’m at and discussed the pros and cons of each surgery.... they told me as of now they aren’t scheduling surgeries so to just keep going to my other appts.... my problem is I do good for a while, but then I go on a binge. I struggle so bad with moderation cause it’s like all or nothing for me. Water I’m good with I usually drink 80 oz I try for a gallon but by then end of the day I feel so bloated! Another downfall with me is exercise cause by time I get home from work my foot hurts so bad I wanna die! I had plantar fasciitis before in my left foot and I got it to heal, but now my right foot has it and it’s way worse than my left foot ever was!

Have you been to a foot doctor? I had horrible PF pain in my left foot and I saw the podiatrist and they did an MRI to show where pain was and what everything in my foot looked like. I then had to wear a boot for 6 weeks and that finally helped me heal so I could walk without too much pain along with custom orthotics. Good luck!

Yeah, a lot of us who end up obese have "all-or-nothing" personalities. I'm glad you already drink the water, that is a big adjustment for a lot of people, especially since your stomach is smaller. Good luck with everything and keep us posted as you move along!

This the thing--- whatever you do, you are not to give up! If you have to take it a pound or 1/2 at a time dont give up.

Oh,I forgot, to tell you at the very last minute I was 4 pounds short of the mandatory goal at the last moment and got upset because I figured he was going to call the whole thing off, he told me don't worry that you'll be just fine that I did well to keep up what I'm doing so when they rolled me in.My battle is exercise.
