Hi all! Gastric Sleeve on 5/18/20

Hi everyone! I just had my surgery yesterday. I don’t know what I was thinking, but I didn’t expect the cramping pain and nausea that I’m experiencing. I’m getting up to walk every couple of hours, but nothing is relieving my cramps and pain. I’ve been taking pain medication as prescribed, but I haven’t had a whole lot of relief.

please tell me that this gets better!

It does

I appreciate the kind words. I know the first few days will be the worst. Luckily I have no cravings right now, and I’ve been slowly losing weight prior to my surgery. I lost 60 pounds in 6 months. Would have been more, but I hit a plateau when my surgery was cancelled due to COVID.

I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all!

Which surgery did you have? Did you stay the night at the hospital? I’m curious since hospitals are operating (not in the surgical sense lol) differently. My surgery will be in a couple months, and I’m wondering how hospitals have changed from pre pandemic times.

Congratulations and yes, it gets much better. I compared my first week to a mild flu. Gas was the main issue but walking and tums helped with that. Don't let yourself get dehydrated, you'll feel very weak and sick, even possibly faint. You don't want to have to go to the hospital for IV fluids.
