Hi everyone. I am so happy I found this online forum!!! I've been going through my journey to surgery "in secret" because I knew I would get too much negativity from family. I started the process in February and am scheduled for surgery July 20th. I cannot believe it is so quickly approaching. I'm nervous beyond belief about all of it. The actually surgery, the pain, the aftermath, etc. I can do this though!!!!!! It helps tremendously to read through these posts on here.

Hi, It is normal to be nervous. My surgery was in January and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I had minimal pain and was on my feet quickly. It is important to start walking as soon as possible and as often as possible as it helps get things moving. I didn't tell people initially for similar reasons but as my confidence has grown and my conviction that this was the right decision for me, I am increasingly less concerned about other people's negative thoughts and opinions. Everybody has a negative story about somebody they know or someone they have heard about. All that is really is important is what you want. I have followed the program pretty rigidly and I think that has helped things go smoothly for me but people react differently. For example I can't tolerate artificial sweetners. I guess it happens for some people that way. I've found however that I don't miss it or sugar for that matter. Anyway, Good luck and stay strong.
