Hip replacement surgery canceled due to the pandemic

Hi everyone!
I had gastric sleeve surgery Jan. 28, 2020, finally! What started me on this journey was needing both hips replaced, but my bmi was too high to have the hip surgery. Im so glad I had the sleeve, & ultimately lost enough weight to go ahead & schedule my first hip replacement surgery for April first, 2020. Well, y'all know what happened, covid 19 hit, & my elective hip surgery was canceled Indefineately. I understand why this happened! And I agree, but I was upset! Even though, in my mind, I figured that would happen, I was praying that I could have at least ONE hip replaced before this terrible pandemic hit!! No such luck! Its taken sooo long for me to get to this point, & Ive been in sooo much pain for so long! I am self quarentined, have a fever, cough. I live in Kansas City, & most of the people here are" shuttered indoor", with only being able to leave for supplies, or doctor. (as is a good portion of the United States)
Anywho, you guys know all that.
I swim on a regular basis for exercise, & it helped w my hip pain. I also took advantage of the hot tub & steam & sauna rooms. The community center is closed. That place I nicknamed "the oasis." Because, it is. Now, all of a sudden, thats gone, & my hip replacement surgery is postponed!
I worry a little about gaining weight from being home & unable to exercise!
Im still about 90 pounds away from my weight goal. My life has been progressively been turned upside down! For quite sometime most things are difficult for me, housework, cooking, yardwork, even putting on my own shoes! I have some equipment to help. I have something to help me put my own socks on. I bought a long shoehorn too. I ve been using a walker to get around. I can barely shop for groceries, much less, carry them into my house. Im still able to drive, but not far, or for long. Im trying to keep from blaming myself, due to being too heavy for hip surgery, & now this.
I shouldnt be complaining w sooo many people dying & sick, & losing their jobs. Their are soooo many people worse off then me! Im trying to focus on the good in my life, & keep my chin up. Remind myself, that this is only temporary. I say everything happens for a reason. It took awhile, but I realized that, its that much longer I have to get closer to my weight goal BEFORE I get my hip replacements.
Just wanted to vent.....thanks.
How has this pandemic affected you all & your family??
Lets all find the rays of sunshine in our lives!!
Sincerely, Lori

I’m sorry you’re going through this! Keep doing what’s in your power and the rest will fall into place. Unfortunately viruses don’t adhere to a timeline, so we must adhere to it. I haven’t had my surgery yet, but my appointments have all been cancelled. I’m just doing what I can for the time being.
