How can it be?

Karen, you just had surgery last week, no? Patients are advised to not weigh for at LEAST 2, better yet, 3 weeks post-op. Your newly operated-on tissues are swollen and retain fluids. The IVs you had also contribute to weight gain. It’s not REAL weight gain. Stay off the scales for now, and you shall be rewarded!

Karen they pump you full of gas and give you saline, which is basically salt water. You are retaining water and you're bloated. If you work the program, it will work for you. 100% period. There will be some weird fluctuations and some random stalls, even when you're doing everything right. Try to stay calm. Freaking out doesn't help. Trust me, I was a spaz the entire time

I just had surgery in January. My surgeon advised me not to weigh myself at home and wait to be weighed at my 14 day post surgical check up appointment (for all the reasons outlined above). At that appointment, he stressed not falling into a daily weigh in habit because each individual loses weight at a different pace. By following the food stages and integrating exercise, the weight falls off over an 18 month period (again, each person loses at a different pace). Please take it easy on yourself and remain calm as your body recovers. Take care!
