I’ve been to the ER 3 times and in 2 different hospitals since Monday. It turns out I had a bowel obstruction, I was in agony, with severe stomach pains and vomiting. The first hospital said I didn’t have a bowel obstruction and wanted to just give me painkillers and observe me! I knew there was something really wrong, so I discharged myself and went to the original hospital where I had the surgery. I had to sit there in agony for 6 hours in the ER. But within an hour of being here, I had been scanned and they had diagnosed an obstruction and started treatment. They inserted a tube up my nose and down my throat into my stomach to suck up the gunk, which was not a pleasant experience, and gave me some anti nausea meds and some morphine.
I had surgery last night, thankfully with my original surgeon, who I trust completely. Today I got up and showered and was able to walk around the ward. They said I can go home within the next couple of days. The obstruction was caused by scar tissue getting stuck to my bowel and twisting it around. The symptoms were severe stomach pain, nausea and vomiting and blurred vision!
I just wanted to warn everyone about this, and tell you all to trust your instincts, and know when to stand your ground!
