I’m new—and would love some tips!

Hi there! I’m so relieved to see this supportive group. I just had my surgery on Monday, Halloween. I would love any tips that helped you get through the first couple of weeks. Any tips about anything that seemed to help make this transition less difficult! Thank you so much!
 
Welcome and congratulations! Sip, sip sip! Really work on your fluid intake and also protein. It gets easier. Let yourself rest, your body has gone through a major surgery and you need to take time to heal. If you feel good, go for short walks if you can. What type of surgery did you have? When are you allowed puréed foods? The transition to regular food from just shakes helped me feel better. I found that warm broth helped with any discomfort/nausea early on. Keep in touch with your team if you are having any difficulties!

Wow, thank you so much! I had the gastric bypass. I’m starting to feel a little crazy due to not having access to protein, but I literally just got off with my doctor and she said I can have my protein drinks. I can’t wait for the puréed part. I know it’s not for forever, but I’m feeling a little bonkers about these clear liquids. Thank you for being reassuring about taking it slow. I have a tendency to rush things—and wanted to be further along than I am. It’s just reassuring knowing you all are here. I appreciate you!
 
Clear liquid sucks lol but honestly its only a week. Get a clear protein drink and try for 1oz every 15 minutes. Its good to have a goal and 1 oz. Can Abe a challenge this early out.
