Hello Everyone! Found this through doing some research on stomach issues after surgery. I had my surgery about 11 weeks ago and I still can't eat without pain and it is really starting to get to me. I have already had 2 Endo scopes done to try and fix the problem but it is not working. Just would really like to feel better and not regret having this surgery. I done it because I had such severe reflux. They said I could go into cancer, but now I am questioning it all. I have to say though, it has cured my diabetes. Haven't had insulin or anything since surgery. I'm glad of that.
Very nice to meet all of you and look forward to chatting.

INABANINA-Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear you are having problems. You didn't mention what type of foods you are eating but I have some suggestions. Make sure what you are eating is tender and mosit and chew it very, very well. Eat very small portions and stop eating well before you start feeling full. Soft foods might be more comfortable on your pouch. Try things like scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, tofu, beans and soup. I had my RNY on 2/27/12 and still have problems with pouch pain when I eat certain foods like "whole" meats and fish. I can eat canned tuna, chicken and turkey. I can also eat lean lunchmeats like ham and turkey. I have problems with roasts and chops. It seems if I eat processed meats they are much easier on my pouch. I can't even eat lean ground beef as a burger but can eat it in meatloaf or in soup. I think certain things just work better because they are more mosit and tender.

hi Inabanina

I too live in Illinois, welcome to this forum, I have found so many answers to my numerous ? on here and everybody has been super kind and offering so much advice. Have they explained to you why you've had to have those 2 endo-scopes?? were you put to sleep when they did the test? if you were awake was it painful? I pray you feel better right away. I too will be glad to rid myself of insulin and oral medications for diabetic and high blood pressure and other health related issues. I have 50 more days til my surgery date, been trying since jan to get this surgery and finally going to get my turn.
I am 20 min, from st louis mo. are you farther away? I haven't met anyone yet whose had there surgery at barnes jewish hospital other than those at support group meeting but none of them seem to be on this web site.

Hi Inabanina, Welcome, You will have to let us know what you find out. The first few months are the most difficult, having to learn what we can and cant eat and some of us have troubles finding anything that agree with us, I have been doing good so far but I have found a few things that I can't eat, your just over two months out so hopefully they can find out whether it is food related or something going on with your pouch. Tom
