I’m pre-op and am thinking a lot about how life will soon change. Doing the normal(?) mourning about portion sizes, foods I may need to avoid, etc. But knowing surgery is coming gives me so much hope! I’ve felt really trapped by my body for 10+ years and now there is tangible freedom on the horizon!!! I’m constantly feeling like my body is in the way and often is genuinely is. I lost 20-30% of my ability to taste/smell several years ago and that was tough. It took time to process and accept, and there was no silver lining.
Surgery and smaller portions feels like a doable price to pay to be able to walk without pain, move freely, even ride a horse (!!) and have a wider selection of clothes. Most of all it will reduce my cancer recurrence risk. I get to live longer!! I’m so grateful this is an option, a wonderful tool.
