Just starting. Hi!

That is great that you have the approval Daisydog! It is for good reason that they have patients wait the 6 months. When I first started this process there were a lot of people that were in my group that was going thru the journey and in the end about half of us that started were left. I was almost one of them that was going to throw in the towel and not move forward because I was being selfish with my thoughts. I do know that some of them dropped out because the doctor does drug tests prior to the surgery as well as nicotine testing and I am sure that others were not mentally ready to make the changes. In the end it was the best decision that I ever made and wish I had done it sooner.

I am just getting the whole process going. I’ve been approved but my insurance says I have to wait 6 months before the surgery. The dr. wants me to lose 20 lbs in that time. So if COVID doesn’t screw up the timeline they tell me that July 1 21 looks good. I tell ya, time is gonna drag.

Hi Daisy!

My insurance was the same way. I started my journey 7/2019. I finally had surgery 1/22/2020. It does kind of drag in the beginning - but with all the things my insurance required me to do during that time - it went by much quicker in the end. `

Welcome! My insurance didn’t have a timeline requirement, but had a certain number of visits I had to do, 4 mental health, 8 dietician, and then there were all the tests. I started towards the end of January 2020, and had my surgery 2 weeks ago today. There were times that moved slow, but looking back, it wasn’t a bad thing. The time helped me prepare mentally, more than physically. It also helped me prepare my recovery plan with my support system. That part hasn’t worked out exactly how I would have liked, but I’m still doing pretty good. Good luck on your journey!!

Yeah, I am already practicing the tiny bites and chew forever. They want to do an indoscopy to check acid and I have the mental health visits but thankfully they are by phone.

Well drug and nicotine tests won’t affect me thankfully. I have enough baggage without that. Lol

I also had to do the 6 months worth of visits with the doctor, meet with a nutritionist, therapist etc. I had my first Dr. appt in Aug of 2019 and I should have had surgery the first week of April, I got postponed until June, due to CoVid shut downs, so I understand your concerns there. However, I am really glad that I had those months to prepare. It took me 2 months to accept I had to eat something for breakfast, even if just a protein shake. And the full 6 to willingly stop drinking my calories via 2 large iced coffees every day. You'll use those months, believe me. They help you to get and keep your head in the game. Good luck to you and welcome to the group.

Daisy, good for you, the 6 months will go by before you know it and as for the 20 lbs you can do it. It is all in your mind, if you are already here it means you are already heading in the right direction. I got approved in 12/2019 and had surgery in 7/2020. Once I set my mind to it and dedicated myself to the new lifestyle the lbs. began to fall off.
