I am reaching out to see if anyone else needed their lapband removed because of slippage. If you had another band placed or did you have gastric surgery such as a sleeve done? How long did you have to wait? Was insurance a issue?
I am very upset that it slipped. I had the band for 4 years and lost 80lbs. I am so afraid of the weight coming back!!! Any help or advice is so appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, I had my lap band in for over 10 years. I just recently had a revision done where the lap band was removed and I had gastric bypass. My lap band not only continued to slip but it also started to erode and was causing other health issues, plus I was also gaining my weight back. Unfortunately our insurance changed and they no longer will provide assistance for any type of medical weight loss help. After being ill and having so many issues for over two years I finally went to mexico and had the revision. I am only 3 weeks into my bypass but with the lapband removed I feel so much better. My acid reflux is gone, the coughing all day and vomiting at night has stopped. I am still in a little bit of pain during my healing process. The lapband was in for a long time and removal of the port (the area is very sore) and I was told that my stomach and liver were very inflamed. I am happy with my decision although I am now going through the struggle of liquid foods for a week and now I have moved to pureed foods for the next 2-4 weeks I'm hoping that I will be able to continue my weight loss.
