For years, when I would bend over to tie my shoes, put on socks, or the worst, clip my toenails (I'm not a foot admirer, so talking about it seems like TMI to me, but hell, we talk about some pretty personal stuff here, so there ya go).
I couldn't breathe while I was doing it. That build-up of fat in my abdomen would press up against my diaphragm and I'd just have to work very fast. Not only was it impossible to breathe, but it was slightly painful and very uncomfortable. If I was clipping my toenails it would take forever because I'd have to stop to breathe. I couldn't move quickly because I could barely reach my toes, so I'd have to get at them from various angles, but nothing allowed me to breathe.
Today I noticed that I was comfortably bent over, breathing, and doing what I needed to do!! Such a silly little thing...grooming your feet, but OMG I felt so good about it!
I lost 2.5 lbs this week, a significant drop off from the first four weeks, but I'm so happy with that 2.5 lbs! I'll take 2.5 lbs any week. I'm in no rush, I actually don't want it to happen too fast because I really, really want to ingrain as many good habits as possible before I reach my goal. I want time doing the right things and making good choices. So if some weeks are 0 or negative, and other weeks are 1, 2 or more lbs, it's all good as long as I stick to my guns and build those good habits.
As I head into week six, I'm on my last week of "soft" foods. Next Thursday I'll start introducing some new foods. I'm hopeful that some raw veggies will go down, as long as I chew them well. I've been missing raw veg and hummus (although I've had some hummus just straight without anything to dip, and I actually like that quite a bit for a little snack).
That's my week 5 sit rep. I hope everyone has a good weekend!
