MY NEW BIRTHDATE - 4/5/23

I have received insurance approval and cleared all prerequisites for my VSG surgery in about 4 weeks. I'm ready for my new life to begin and I'm really stoked. I would be even happier if I didn't already know how freaking hard this is going to be. We're all creatures of habit and I (like some many of you) have spent a big portion of my life not eating right, not addressing the reasons why, and not doing something about it. So, here I am, ready to make the forever change. This is going to be fun because I cranky when I can't find my brand of soap at the store! I've researched and read so, so much about this surgery and process that I feel very well prepared. And, I'm pretty sure that's my first mistake. It's also one of the main reasons I joined this support group. As much as I think I know, I definitely don't. I'm glad this group exists!

I'm cheering for you ,Richard !!!! Start the countdown !! I'm exactly like you ... happy and scared at the same time. My time for surgery is just dragging on .... wait for this - wait for that sigh. In the meantime, hearing people like you , listening to you being so excited .. just makes me happy :)
YOU GOT THIS !

The best part about the surgery is its resets your hormones, you can lose weight without feeling like you're starving all the time. Take advantage of that time to develop new, healthy habits. Learn to cook healthy, delicious foods. Eating real food, instead of garbage changes your taste buds. I loved loved LOVED cheetos. I cannot eat them now. They taste so fake. Super salty and weird.

Once you start eating good food, overly processed and fast foods are pretty gross. Which makes it a little easier long term. And they aren't lying .. Nothing tastes a good as skinny(ish) feels!!
