New here 1 week post op

Hello all I am new here 1week post op and I have questions I had the sleeve on Thursday of last week I am not great when it comes to drinking or eating as whenever I do I have a lot of air and end up burning for a while while eating or drinking any suggestions for this is this normal? I’m also petrified of losing my hair and how going back to work will be with all the little vitamin breaks I need

HI. Welcome to the group. I am not sure if you mean you have a burning sensation after eating, or if you meant burping, since you mentioned air. I have just started losing my hair recently, so I am right their with you on the petrified front. I just keep reminding myself that I'm not LOSING my hair. I'm shedding. I'm not going bald. It's thinning. My cousin had the sleeve about 6 months before I had my bypass. She has stopped shedding already and her hair looks fine, so I have faith that I'm going to be okay. Being back at work HAS had its challenges. Please keep in mind that your job is legally required to make "reasonable accommodations" for medical issues. You are medically required to sip water throughout the day and take your vitamins. I happen to have a job where you are not allowed to drink water (or anything) unless on a scheduled break. Well, that doesn't work anymore, since I have to eat on break and I can no longer do both. I actually had to fill out ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) paperwork to be allowed to have a water bottle on the floor and drink throughout the day. But I would suggest just discussing your situation with your boss, if you've told them about your surgery. Hopefully, it's a non issue. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Thank you I mean burbing a lot sorry lol yes it’s really frustrating as that’s all I do is burb when eating or drinking. My job knows what surgery I had but I don’t know that they are aware of what will be required of me when I go back I’ll talk to them here soon thank you again
Also my Puréed diet starts tomorrow I hope I am able to enjoy my food as it’s been a struggle with the burbing

the burping gets better, however it might be a sign that you need to slow down on eating pace and how much water you take in at a time. I had some burping and lots of cramping issues until about 2 weeks post op. I talk to the nurse about it and they were able to prescrib a med to help with this somewhat. I am now 3 weeks post and can drink water just like I did before surgery but still if I eat too fast I have issues.

How long are you out from your surgery again?

I was going through this in the hospital. They gave me the good old fashion baby Mylicon drops. LIFE SAVER! They don't taste the best but certainly not as horrible as some of the other meds I'm gagging down. The gas pains were terrible in my back.

Congrats by the way! I am one week post op also! Best wishes to you!
